Tested to the Limit: 24th Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda
For 100 days in the spring of 1994, Rwanda was torn apart. 900,000 people died during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, many of them women and children. Consolee Nishimwe, who was a teenager at the time, lost family and friends as she struggled to survive the carnage. She now lives in New York City and is an avid supporter of Chhange. Consolee is one of the local survivors featured in the Rwandan section of Journeys Beyond Genocide: The Human Experience.
On April 3, 2018 Chhange will host Consolee for a book talk about her memoir Tested to the Limit: A Genocide Survivor's Story of Pain, Resilience and Hope. The talk will take place at 7:00 p.m. in Navesink III in the Student Learning Center at Brookdale Community College. After Consolee's talk, her book will be available for purchase & signing.
This event is $10.00 per person for General Admission and free to Chhange members and Brookdale students. To register, please use our online form.
