Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn
On September 30, 2015, Chhange was honored to present a spectaular program featuring Pulitzer Prize winning authors Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Hundreds of enthusiastic audience members including area community members, as well as Brookdale Community College students, staff and faculty, gathered in the Collins arena to hear the couple’s presentation, and participate in a Q&A.
Kristof and WuDunn specialize in human rights, women's rights, health and global affairs. They spoke about their book, A Path Appears, which looks at some of today’s most successful local and global initiatives that are making a positive impact on the lives of woman and children around the world. The couple also shared their thoughts on how small-scale local and individual initiatives can make a significant difference in individuals' physical and economic welfare. Kristof and WuDunn stressed the importance of education--particularly for girls--in helping to defeat extreme poverty, and discussed ways that audience members could help make a difference in the world.
The program was co-sponsored by Brookdale’s Student Life & Activities, Continuing and Professional Studies, The International Education Center, and The Global Citizenship Project.
