International Day of Holocaust Remembrance Commemorative Book Talk

Chhange joins the international community in remembering the Holocaust the week of the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance. This year's international theme is Holocaust Remembrance and Education: Our Shared Responsibility. Dr. Monika Rice, a professor at Seton Hall University, will join us Thursday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the Twin Lights rooms to discuss her book, "What! Still Alive?!": Jewish Survivors in Poland and Israel Remember Homecoming

After surviving the horrors of the Holocaust, Jewish citizens returned to their homes in Poland expecting refuge. Instead, many discovered they were unwelcome by their neighbors.

“What! Still Alive?!” by Monika Rice explores the complex homecoming Polish Jews faced. Rice studies testimony of Jewish survivors, and delivers their intricate history. Rice studies the transformation of survivors’ memories from the initial account after their return to Poland and subsequent accounts, recorded at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem between 1955 and 1970.

This event is free to Chhange members and Brookdale students & faculty. Admission for community members is $10.00. Dr. Rice's book will be for sale and a book signing will follow.
