Our speakers include:
Alexandra Drakakis is Chief Acquisitions Curator in the David M. Rubenstein National Institute for Holocaust Documentation at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where she oversees a large team of curators who specialize in the acquisition of artifacts across all media and the production of oral testimonies. In her talk, “Transmitters of History: Considering Artifacts of Trauma from Museums and Archives as Teaching Tools,” Ms. Drakakis will address the key theme of the workshop.
Joe Nappi teaches U.S. History and Holocaust, Genocide and Modern Humanity at Monmouth Regional High School in Tinton Falls, NJ, and has been recognized as New Jersey State Teacher of the Year for 2024. He worked with a national team of educators to design lessons for Ken Burn’s film, “The U.S. and the Holocaust.” Mr. Nappi will speak on U.S. immigration policy and the experiences of Jewish refugees during the Holocaust.
