Chhange appoints three new members to board of directors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LINCROFT, NJ, Oct. 1, 2025 — In a significant move, Chhange - Center for Holocaust, Human Rights & Genocide Education - added three members to its prestigious Board of Directors this summer. They are: Henry Newman, a former actuary and current Chhange volunteer; Alexander Stone, a media executive; and Dr. David Stout, president of Brookdale Community College which houses Chhange.
“We are always interested in expanding our Board and are extremely fortunate to have three amazing individuals willing to bring their strengths and passions to our organization at the same moment,” said Board of Directors’ President Howard Dorman.
Chhange Executive Director Dr. Asya Darbinyan echoed that sentiment.
“Each of these individuals brings unique strengths and perspectives to our Board. What unites them is their strong support for our mission and their shared commitment to helping Chhange educate, inspire, and empower people to stand up against injustice and become engaged, active citizens,” she said.
After a long career as an actuary, Newman began volunteering at Chhange, where he currently leads tours of the organization’s award-winning exhibit, Journeys Beyond Genocide: The Human Experience. According to Newman, he was aware of the Holocaust and Rwandan genocides, but knew little about the Armenian genocide. Since joining Chhange, he has led numerous Armenian genocide tours, teaching and learning with each group.
Stone was introduced to Chhange by his father, Lloyd, during one of the organization’s early golf outings. He has been an active participant since 2013, steadily increasing his leadership role to include attracting multiple sponsors for the event. Stone has worked in the media industry for more than 20 years, and for more than the last 10 years, he’s been with Horizon Media, where he’s the SVP of Agency Partnerships. This role, he said, has enabled him to develop deep bonds with high-visibility companies, which he has been able to leverage into support for important causes such as Chhange.
Stout became Brookdale Community College’s seventh president in May 2018. Prior to his selection, Stout served in various roles at Brookdale, including Vice President for Student Success, Dean of Enrollment Development & Student Affairs, Dean of the Freehold Campus, Department Chair and Professor of Psychology & Human Services, Student Development Specialist, and Learning Assistant.
He said he has been a champion for Chhange at every stage of his career, fully appreciating how much it adds to Brookdale Community College and the impact it has on the community.
“The fact that such busy individuals, including the president of Brookdale Community College, are making time to join the Chhange board truly speaks volumes,” Darbinyan said. “We’re so excited to welcome them and look forward to moving into the future with their insight and support.”
Founded in 1979, Chhange’s mission is to educate about the Holocaust, genocide, and human rights; promote the elimination of racism, antisemitism, and all forms of prejudice; and develop creative programs regarding these crucial human issues. The organization, an independent nonprofit, is housed on the campus of Brookdale Community College.
