Armenian Genocide Remembrance
During the Armenian Genocide, the Young Turks orchestrated the killing of over 1.5 million Armenians. Under the cover of World War I, Ottoman Turkey’s military forced men, women, and children to march across the deserts to their deaths. Join us on April 19, 2018, as we remember the courage, suffering, and will to survive of the Armenians.
Chhange welcomes Turkish scholar Dr. Taner Akçam, whose scholarship brings to light new evidence of the murder and planned extinction of the Armenian people. Dr. Akçam is the Robert Aram, Marianne Kaloosdian and Stephen and Marian Mugar Chair in Armenian Genocide Studies at Clark University. He will discuss his new book, Killing Orders: Talat Pasha’s Telegrams and the Armenian Genocide. The book will be available for purchase & signing after his discussion.
